Charlottesville is the happiest place in the country to retire - that's according to a new ranking by Washington, D.C., based publisher Kiplinger.

The 2019 list points out Charlottesville's natural beauty and outdoor experiences as top contributors to the number one ranking.

Kiplinger also calls the city tax-friendly for retirees and notes more than 10% of the population is made up of people over the age of 65. Representatives from The Center in Charlottesville agree with the ranking.
