Getting licensed for your new career might seem a bit overwhelming, but we're here to guide you through the process. Learn the six steps you'll need to take before starting your real estate career in Virginia.

Get started by going to montaguemiller.com/real-estate-academy to sign up for Principles of Real Estate which fulfills the classroom prerequisite for taking the Real Estate exam with P.S.I. for Salespersons (60 hours)

1) Complete 60 hours of approved Pre-Licensing education and prep for the final course exam. We also offer in-class prep sessions to help you review key content.

2) Pass the course final exam- After completing all the course materials, there is a course final exam in the presence of a proctor, so you'll need to schedule an appointment with a proctor in advance.

3) Pass the Virginia real estate salesperson exam. PSI administers the Virginia real estate salesperson licensing exam. This 120-question test is comprised of 2 portions, covering both state and national requirements in 150 minutes of allotted time. You will have 105 minutes for 80 national questions and 45 minutes for 40 state questions. 

4) Complete fingerprint requirement. A complete application must be on file with the board within 45 days.

5) Choose a sponsoring broker. To be licensed, you must first be associated with a current and active Virginia sponsoring broker. In order to receive an active license upon submitting your application, you must be associated with a licensed real estate firm that will serve as your mentor as you start your new career in real estate.

6) Complete the application to be licensed in Virginia. Once all the requirements have been met, you must complete and mail your complete application package. 

Congratulations! You would now be ready to start your new career as a REALTOR®.
