 Host of the Upperville Colt & Horse Show, oldest horse show in the United States since 1853, Fauquier is famous for its equine farms.

 Named after Francis Fauquier, Governor of the Colony of Virginia, and a friend to Thomas Jefferson, he was considered a Renaissance Man interested in science, the arts and charity as well as his expertise in industry.

Home to Sky Meadows State Park and William Whitney State Forest, the area offers bridle trails, various hiking trails, beautiful mountain vistas, and access to the Appalachian Trail.

John Kennedy and his family were frequent visitors for recreation and retreat during their years in Washington.
